2012 Swart STR 1x12 Combo Celestion Blue Two Tone Tweed

The Swart Atomic Space Tone Pro 1x12 Two-Tone Tweed combo is a hand-wired, 5-watt Class A single-ended amp built around a zero-negative-feedback, all-tube circuit. It ships set up with JJ tubes (2x 12AX7, 1x 12DW7, JJ 6V6S and JJ GZ34 rectifier) but accepts GZ34 or 5Y3 rectifiers and is cathode-biased (no external biasing required). The amp features a spring reverb (Swart tube-driven) and the STR-Tremolo circuit, both footswitchable, plus a three-position EQ switch (Full, Natural, Low Cut) to tame the amp’s low end when needed. Controls include hi/lo inputs, CTS pots, a standby switch, and a 4/8 ohm 1/4" output to run a secondary speaker or cabinet. The standard speaker in this is a 12" Mojotone BV-30H (8 ohm) but this has the upgraded Celestion Blue.  The cabinet depth was increased on newer builds to accommodate deeper speakers such as Celestion Blue or Creamback.

Sonically this amp is voice-forward and responsive: it cleans with warmth and breaks up into complex, harmonically rich overdrive when cranked, with the STR-Trem providing a wide range of speed and depth without washing out the character of different guitars. The Celestion Blue gives pronounced top-end sparkle but a touch less low-frequency fullness at low volumes compared with the BV-30 or a Creamback; the BV-30 offers a great compromise of breakup and low-end for a 5W single-ended design. Construction details include point-to-point hand wiring, carbon composition resistors, Mallory capacitors, cloth hookup wire, Star grounding, finger-jointed solid pine cabinet, vintage jewel lamp, Switchcraft jacks and CTS pots.
